Main treatment areas

Taking demographic factors into account, there will be a rapid increase in respiratory diseases in the coming years. First and foremost is lung cancer, which is already the most common tumor disease among men. Among women, it currently occupies third place, with an upward trend.

But also the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which mostly occurs in smokers, and lung emphysema show a continuous increase. Three lung diseases are already among the ten most frequent causes of death, with lung cancer and COPD in fourth and fifth place respectively. Our department takes this development into account and also covers the entire spectrum of pneumology.
